What's Hot Now: Hair Accessories

Last February, we proclaimed that Hair Ornaments were the must-have item of the season. Well, it seems Mr. Townsend is determined to keep this trend thriving for Spring 2008...And why not? Hair decoration is hot. And not to mention oh-so-much fun - jewelry for your hair - adding a little sparkle and pizzazz to your outfit never hurt. In addition, Allure Magazine couldn't agree more. In their February 2008 issue, Allure showcased an array of blooming hair accessories in a 6 page glossy spread titled, "Avant Garden."
Mark is particularly a fan of expert hair accessory designer, Jennifer Behr. Jennifer Behr's resume includes five years at Frederic Fekkai as the lead hair accessory designer. When Fekkai discontinued its hair accessory line, Jennifer was encouraged to start her own collection. Thus, jennifer behr was born in September 2005 and is available at Bergdorf Goodman, Henri Bendel and SAKS 5th Avenue.
Mark wanted to share the accessories he has used and on whom, in the past two months with you:
Mark added gorgeous Chanel gold feather hair combs from the Paris-Métiers D'Art Collection to Cate Blanchett's soft twisted bun for the Modern Masters Awards at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival on January 26th. Mark had to have those Chanel feathers for Cate's updo and begged for them before they hit stores. Ranging from $420 to $785, the combs will be available for purchase at Chanel boutiques in mid-April. To find the store nearest you and place a pre-order, visit Chanel.com or call 800-550-0005.
On February 12th, Mark added a regal - black - very ornate vintage Chanel broach to Natalie Portman's soft waves for the launch of her vegan shoe line at Té Casan in NYC. And for Natalie's appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman, Mark used Jennifer Behr's Smoked Diamond Overlapping Crystal Twist to accentuate Natalie's chic updo. The delicate headwrap is made of six woven strands of swarovski crystals. And is available for purchase on Jennifer Behr's website for $162.
And most recently, Mark added Jennifer Behr's Python Patent Orchid Hairpin to Amy Adam's sleek pony for the Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day Premiere in NYC on March 2nd. "This hairpin is amazing! I love the unexpected python detailing. And, its bendable!" Mark exclaims. "It brings a simple ponytail from casual to polished and elegant," adds Behr. This hairpin is also available for purchase on Jennifer Behr's website for $162.
It doesn't seem like Mr. Townsend will slow down on the hair accessory trend anytime soon. So, for all of us short on cash, stop by www.hairboutique.com for an endless assortment of bejeweled pins, clips, combs and headbands.
