Get the Look: Emma Stone at The House Bunny Premiere

We had a chance to catch up with both lovely ladies to get the inside scoop on their inspiration for the look and all the details on how we can achieve the look ourselves. Rachel and Mara were inspired by Emma's gorgeous black cocktail dress and based her Frenchie-look off the gown. They decided to play off it's classic retro glamour. Mara and Rachel were very kind to fill us in on the breakdown of Emma's hair and makeup for a Get the Look:
GET THE LOOK - Hair - Created by Mara Roszak:
Mara created a wide, loose tousled bun on Emma.
1. Mara started with Phyto Phytovolume Actif Maximizing Volume Spray for Fine Hair - to create volume at the roots. She used the spray all-over Emma's head at the roots.
2. Mara then blow-dried all of Emma's hair in sections with a small boar-bristle round brush to create a natural texture.
3. After Emma's hair was dry, Mara curled her entire head with a 1" curling iron, separating her hair out into various sized sections as she curled. She made sure to curl Emma's hair away from her face. She curled starting from the root to the ends to create a soft, flowy wave. She then ran her fingers through the curls to break up the wave. Mara then ran a small drop of Kerastase Serum Nutri Sculpt through her hair.
4. Next, Mara started pinning sections of hair up at the back of Emma's head, making sure to leave out the front sections of her hair to pin up separately later on. She used regular bobby pins - and pinned across the whole back side of Emma's head twisting the sections of hair as she pinned. She pinned Emma's bang-side much looser than the non-bang side of the head. As she pinned the hair back, she sprayed Davines Defining Invisible Hair Spray to help style the hair and to create texture.
5. The final touches: When Mara had completed the pinning processes and Emma's hair was now in a loose bun, Mara sprayed back Emma's bangs using Rene Furterer Laque Anti-Dehydrating Instant Hold Finishing Spray. This hairspray is a little bit heavier than the Davines spray and is good for finishing styles. She manipulated Emma's long bang, so that it formed a nice "S" shape and fell right above her eyelid. Sexy!
GET THE LOOK - Makeup - Created by Rachel Goodwin:
1. First, Rachel prepped Emma's skin with Chanel Hydramax + Active - Active Moisture Boost, a silky serum that sinks in on contact for immediate dry-skin relief. Rachel tells us, Emma "Loves that stuff."
2. Next, Rachel applied Revlon Skinlights Instant Skin Brightener - in Natural Light to highlight the nose and the upper lip. Rachel wanted to bring forward the light on Emma's face, plus Revlon Skinlights lotion is super hydrating as well.
3. Rachel used a very small amount of Make Up For Ever Concealer & Lip Liner Pencil only on areas where needed - because Emma is so young and she already has beautiful skin, Rachel wanted to keep it light and show off Emma's adorable freckles
4. Rachel used Chanel Automatic Liquid Eyeliner in black to create a dramatic line along Emma's upper eyelids. Rachel extended the liner slightly - for a subtle cat eye. She also drew a thin line along the bottom lash line as well.
5. Rachel applied a soft wash of a warm-orangy-brown eyeshadow from Kevyn Aucoin's The Essential Eye Shadow Palette - #1 to create depth along Emma's upper eyelids...for a perfect Lauren Bacall shaped eye.
6. Next, Rachel applied (Emma's fave!) Cover Girl LashBlast Volume Blasting Mascara to intensify and thicken Emma's lashes. Both Rachel and Emma absolutely LOVE this mascara...but one should know that this mascara creates the ultimate big lash look.
7. Rachel is a fan of a strong brow - so she used Make Up For Ever Waterproof Eyebrow Corrector in Light Brown to define and to subtly match her brows to her hair. Rachel likes to be extra cautious when filling-in brows because your brows and your hair shouldn't be completely matchy-matchy...your brows should complement your hair, but not match the color exactly - this is especially important on Redheads like Emma. Rachel then used a clear brow gel to keep them in place all night.
8. On Emma's cheeks, Rachel added a soft hue of Chantecaille Cheek Color Powder - in Wind, to the apples of her cheeks.
9. To finish the look, Rachel used Kevyn Aucoin The Expert Lip Tint - in Poppia to create a bright red lip. Rachel loved that Emma was completely comfortable wearing red lipstick. **A little Inside Trick: Rachel used a neutral color liner on Emma's lips, blotted it with a Q-tip and then added translucent powder over before applying the lipstick - to make the lipstick color last throughout the evening.
