Get the Look: Cameron Diaz in British GQ

Get the Look: Cameron Diaz in British GQ

The May 2008 UK edition of GQ Magazine with the stunning Cameron Diaz on the cover, has hit newsstands just in time for those warm Summer months. The very talented celebrity makeup artist Jake Bailey, was the mastermind behind Diaz's bronzed beauty. We found it necessary to speak with the man behind the makeup to get the juicy details on how he created the golden look - so we can do it ourselves! Jake was kind enough to share with us his step-by-step process in creating Cameron's pool-side glow:

The Body Makeup:
1. Jake used Murad Body Firming Cream (his absolute favorite moisturizer) all over Cameron's body to prep her skin for bronzing. This patented cream is infused with Vitamin C, which increases elasticity and radiance. It also includes shea butter to provide intense hydration to the skin.

Jake tells us, to create the most natural-looking tan as possible, it is very necessary that your skin is properly exfoliated and moisturized before applying bronzer or fake-tanner.

2. After applying the moisturizer, Jake waited 20 minutes to let the cream absorb into the skin before dusting on bronzing powder.

3. Jake used a loose powder bronzer from Max Factor called Color Genius Bronzer (officially launching in stores this summer). The powder is intended for the face, but Jake used it all over Cameron's body to create that bronzed skin look. The bronzing powder creates an all-over-glow and makes the skin look a few shades darker than your natural skin tone.

4. Jake used his favorite large powder brush, from Tarte Cosmetics called The Classic Brush, to dust on the powder. He made sure to apply a little extra powder to the collar-bone and the shoulders to create some extra sheen on those spots.

The Face Makeup:
1. Jake applied a mineral makeup foundation from Cameron's makeup bag to her entire face.

2. He wanted to be sure to match the color of Cameron's face to the rest of her bronzed body, so he added the Color Genius Bronzing powder to the ridge of her nose and along her cheekbones - bringing dimension to her face.

3. On Cameron's eyes, Jake added two-coats of Max Factor's New Vivid Impact Highlighting Mascara in 907 24 Karat Brown (copper and gold). The double-ended tube has a base coat of Lash Perfection Mascara on one end and a high-pigmented mascara on the other end to highlight the lashes. Jake added a gold metallic sheer wash of shadow on her eyelids.

4. Jake added a final coat of Max Factor Volume Couture Waterproof Mascara in 805 Rich Black to her upper lashes.

5. On Cameron's brows, Jake used Brett Freedman's VanityMark Brow Pencil in Blondest (a light ashy blonde shade) to define and shape her brows. Jake mentions that this is the best brow pencil out there for blondes. Most brow pencils on blondes are too warm in tone and make brows look too dark, but VanityMark Brow Pencil in Blondest from Brett Freedman is simply the best.

6. After Jake, filled in Cameron's bows he set them with Brett Freedman's VanityMark Brow Glaze in Acrylica. This clear brow glaze acts like "eyebrow glue." Brows do not move after applying this glaze, Jake insists. Plus, the gel does not flake after it dries, it creates a soft sheen and brows will stay-put all day.

7. Lastly, Jake applied NARS Lip Stain Gloss in Indian Red to Cameron's lips. This extra longwearing matte lip color glides on smoothly and stays for hours for that perfect dramatic matte look - while keeping lips hydrated.

**Jake also recommends that if you want a more dramatic eye at the pool or the beach, but don't want to worry about it washing off or running down your face, to try Make Up For Ever Aqua Creamliner. Jake suggests blending this liner in with a shadow at the lashline. "The unique formula provides intense color and budge-proof resistance thanks to silicone powder and emollients."

mrrr. I'm not feelin that lip colour on her. The bod is phenom, but not that lip shade...she needs something pink - but a mature, plummy pink. I think that would be a big improvement - luckily guys will be too distracted, since she's lookin so goddamn sexy. http://thepuffreports.blogspot.com/
