Get the Look: Maggie Gyllenhaal at Dark Knight

Get the Look: Maggie Gyllenhaal

One of our favorite Celebrity Stylemakers, hair master Mr. Mark Townsend (the man responsible for Reese Witherspoon's bang/bob transformation) had the opportunity to work with the lovely Maggie Gyllenhaal for the NYC Premiere of The Dark Knight. Mark was kind enough to write in and give us all the details on how he created Maggie's modern soft up-do for the premiere. Read on to read all the 411 info from Mark himself:

"I had the pleasure of working with Maggie Gyllenhaal for the premiere of her film The Dark Knight. Maggie is such an incredible inspiration to work with and she has amazing style, as you can see from her Dries Van Noten dress that was made for her.

For the premiere, I wanted Maggie to have a completely modern look. I decided to keep her hair up. I applied Matrix Vavoom Volumizing Foam to her damp hair and rough dried it throughout with my fingers, not with a brush.

When all the hair was dry, I used R Sessions Naluwaver - Double Barrel Iron, wrapping the hair in a figure 8 around the two barrels. This gives the hair an amazing wave! When I waved all of her hair, I mixed Matrix Biolage Molding Souffle and Matrix Biolage Shine Endure Spritz in my hands and raked it through her hair to give it texture and shine.

I didn't want a bun or a french twist, so I took random sections of hair from the back and sides and twisted them back away from the face and pinned them to the middle of the back of her head. Then I took the top section and created twists from the front to the back. I then pinned each section of twisted hair to the back, so all sections ended near the same place in the back. I left out a few loose pices of hair around the hairline and in the back to keep it looking fresh and modern."

Maggie Gyllenhaal is one of the most beautiful women, and although I'm not a big fan of the hair here, she has a great "You don't know what I'm thinking" smile that makes up for it.

i don't like her hair. It looks so messy, frizzy and undone in a purposeful way not casually elegant. bleh.
