Costume Institute Gala: Beauty Round-Up 1

Costume Institute Gala: Beauty Round-Up 1

WHO ROCKED THE MET GALA?
Who were the SUPER HEROES of beauty?

Last night the celebs worked the red carpet at the Costume Institute Gala, "Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy," held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Beauty was ALL OVER THE BOARD last night. With a theme like Superheroes: Fashion & Fantasy, we expected to see some interesting beauty looks and boy did we get it. While most of our leading ladies played it safe, actresses like Tilda Swinton (she has balls!), Kate Bosworth and Kate Holmes gave us some daring eye makeup looks…which many will hate, but we admire being playful with the theme of the evening.

Hair also covered the full spectrum of styles. Some styles looked like straight-up rat’s nests (sorry, Scarlett & Mary Kate), while others showed us shiny and chic. Our favorite new hair trend of the season, which showed up last night, is the slick “wet do” sported by Christina Ricci (styled by Adir Abergel) and Jennifer Connelly (styled by Mark Townsend). Those boys are always ahead of the curve when it comes to hair.

While there were a lot of looks to love, we didn’t feel a collective sweep of inspiration from last night’s event, and the MET Gala is usually a great opportunity to set the tone for Summer beauty trends. We have our best and worst picks, so now it’s time for you to share your thoughts…Who were the “heroic” beauties at the MET Gala? And who should have stayed home?

Agreed. All we can see is gold eye shadow and white concealer Tilda, honey. You are becoming like Bjork at red-carpet events . . . unforgettable (and not in the good way). Next time try adding a little eye-liner, eyebrows, lips and lashes to accompany this dramatic lid color. This is a perfect example of a look that is better suited for a Tokyo runway show.

Tilda . . . step away from the gold sparkle eye-shadow! We know you are fiercely talented, but this eye-popping look is a little scarey!

I really loved Katie Holmes' eye make up look. I'm not crazy about the shoes or the dress or the shoes with the dress, but I'm totally digging the make up. Any ideas on how to copy the look for myself?
