What look are you best known for (describe your signature “look”)? Glamorous elegant beauty. Perfect skin and lips. How did you get your start in this business? In high school, I loved the environment of a photo shoot and a brief stint in modeling school led me behind the camera to do makeup. I’ve been doing it ever since. Proudest Red Carpet moment? I worked on the adorable Fionnula Flanagan for her movie premiere. She came out, all dressed up, tears in her eyes, and in her great accent said, “Dahling, you’ve made me look 10 years younger!” Second moment would be a photographer pointing to Kevyn Aucoin’s makeup book and stating, “you’re just as good as he is”. That’s when I realized I may have a shot at this thing. What are 5 must-haves in your kit? 1. Smashbox photo finish primer 2. Face Atelier Foundation 3. My chinese bamboo blush brush. 4. Estee lauder’s lip glosses 5. Cargo’s Bronzers. Any of them. Describe your “beauty style”: I’m really into skin. Making skin look perfect. Glowing, shimmering, matte, it doesn’t matter. But perfect. Actually, I’m into the whole face looking perfect. Like it’s been airbrushed or photo-shopped, but it hasn’t. I love perfect cheeks, smoky eyes, light or dark lips. I love it all. But to me, beauty is all about creating perfection. Who is your dream client? You know, I really don’t have one. I would say my dream is the perfect image. My love is photography makeup and I love being part of creating a beautiful image, hopefully one that will stand the test of time. Well, ok, if I had to say one dream client it would be that one celebrity that really needs it. I would love to recreate them.. I just won’t say who. ;) | What was your biggest beauty screw-up? I would say not believing or understanding the importance of your own unique style. I would do all types of makeup, and not really loving it, but only when I realized what I do best, and love that beautiful perfect makeup, was I able to really get ahead in my career. And of course, that green concealer I used to hide red breakouts on the skin. Yep, it showed and I’ll never use it again. What is your number one beauty rule to live by? Be confident and happy with who you truly are. Only then does your outside beauty show. And only then is all the effort to ‘look good’ really worth it. Your heart and soul have to be a part of it. Otherwise, it’s just a pretty canvas. If you had a theme song, what would it be? Any classic piano solo. It makes me think of my dad. Who are the top 3 people on your speed dial? 1. My mom & dad (of course!) 2. my #1 assistant, Jennifer 3. my office #, I’m constantly checking my messages. Describe your blog in one sentence: Product reviews, makeup tips and a day in the life of a celebrity makeup artist. Proudest blogging moment: Knowing 400+ people subscribe per day. I’m honored. Blog post you regret: None! Blog that doesn’t exist that you wish did: Any blog form Kevyn Aucoin would have been amazing. Best beauty advice: Apply makeup for a better you, not a better eye or lip. Think of the total picture. Top 3 blogs: Makeupminute.com Ebeautydaily.com atouchofblusher.blogspot.com |
